Does anyone use msn with their windows vista computer? I was trying to download and install it, but it doesn't seem to be working. Is this only something a sighted person can do? I had to ask someone who could see to do it for me on my windows xp computer when I had that as well.

msn messengers before windows live do not work on vista machines.

yep, that's true, and windows live works very well. you should be able to do it yourself unless your screen reader is really screwed up or something

I was trying to install windows live on my computer, but it wasn't working for some reason.

Try switching Windows. Vista has UAC (user account control) which should make a sound to tell you something's trying to access your system, it thinks, without your permission. Just press Enter on Continue Button and the program should carry on installing once you've done that. Also, go for the latest Messenger, WLM9.0.

WLM 9.0 is already out? And I can't stand that freakin' user account control! But anyway, try what Jen said.

you can disable UAC. look under user accounts. be warned, it will ask you if you're sure you want to access this this section of the settings

I've just unchecked some box in the turn user account control on or off and it's asking me to restart the computer because of security problems. Is it meant to do this?

that's just windows being a pain in the butt. nothing to worry about.

Someone told me I might need to take it off and reinstall it, but I don't know how that's going to help.

I've taken windows live off and put msn back on, then upgraded to the newer version of windows live. The only thing is, the firewall is still blocking it even though I've turned it off. Does anyone understand this? Because i don't.

I've finally managed to sign into windows live messenger. I don't know how I did it, but I went to my e-mail inbox today and found that my windows live account was signing me in. I can see all my contacts and everything again.
